Grounding for Masts

Grounding for Masts

All new masts will have a green screw at the bottom of the foot plate. This is the point used for grounding the satellite antenna (dish). The green ground screw is the preferred point for attaching the ground wire (messenger) to ground the satellite antenna.

For older masts these screws probably will not be pre-installed. If that is the case, you should install the green ground screw yourself. There is a small hole on each side of the foot/base of the mast for the installation of the ground screw.

Another approved grounding point is a ground lug. The ground lug is secured using one of the bolts on the foot/base of the mast.

Using a bolt and nut on the mast by itself as the attachment point for the ground (messenger) wire IS NOT APPROVED.
